The heart is located in the center of the chest, on the left side of the body. A normal and he althy heart is supported by strong muscle tissue and works well in pumping blood. The heart that beats continuously, is able to flow more than 14,000 liters of blood every day.
Heart Size and Anatomy
The human heart is almost the size of a fist. This organ is divided into four parts, namely the right and left atrium and the right and left ventricles. Each part of the heart is separated by a layer of wall called the septum.

- pulmonary valve, located between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery
The Functions of the Heart Based on its Parts

1. Right porch
The right atrium is located above the right side of the heart. This section serves to receive dirty blood from the veins and pump it into the right ventricle. Dirty blood is blood that contains little oxygen.
In the fetus, there is a hole in the right atrium to allow oxygen-rich blood from pregnant women to flow directly into the left atrium. This is important for fetal blood circulation, because their lungs are not yet able to work.
After birth, the baby's lungs will expand and begin to function. The hole will be closed and create a boundary between the right and left porch.
2. Right chamber
This is the part that is responsible for pumping dirty blood to the lungs so that carbon dioxide can be exchanged for oxygen through the respiratory process. The right ventricle is under the right atrium and next to the left ventricle.
Dirty blood flowing through the right atrium will pass through the tricuspid valve to reach the right ventricle. This blood is then pumped to the lungs through the pulmonary valve and flows through the pulmonary arteries.
When this part of the heart is not functioning properly, so it can no longer pump efficiently, you can develop right heart failure.
3. Left porch
The left atrium is located at the top left of the heart. This section is responsible for receiving clean blood from the lungs. Clean blood is blood that contains oxygen. Clean blood enters the left atrium through the pulmonary veins or veins, then is pumped into the left ventricle through the mitral valve.
4. Left chamber
The left ventricle of the heart is located under the left atrium and is separated by the mitral valve. The left ventricle is the thickest part of the heart and is responsible for pumping clean blood throughout the body. High blood pressure conditions can cause the left ventricle muscles to enlarge and harden, due to the increased workload of the left ventricle of the heart in pumping blood. If this happens continuously, the function of the left ventricle in pumping blood throughout the body can be disrupted.
