Covid-19 Vaccine Halal Certification

Following the issuance of an emergency use authorization (EUA) issued by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) declared that the COVID-19 vaccine was halal for use.

This halal status applies to COVID-19 vaccines made by Sinovac Life Science Co Ltd China and PT Bio Farma (Persero), namely CoronaVac, Vaccine Covid-19, and Vac2Bio.

In the MUI Fatwa Number 2 of 2021, the first point is written that the production of the COVID-19 vaccine by the manufacturer is sacred and halal. On the second point, the COVID-19 vaccine can be used as long as its safety is guaranteed according to experts.

The process of determining halal for the COVID-19 vaccine is carried out through a long process. Since October 2020, the MUI team consisting of the Central MUI Fatwa Commission and LPPOM MU along with other teams visited factories in China and carried out investigations.

After studying more deeply, MUI ensures that the raw materials and methods for making the COVID-19 vaccine from the manufacturer use safe and halal ingredients. This vaccine is also a type of vaccine that can be given during fasting.

It is known that the COVID-19 vaccine contains an inactivated virus and does not contain harmful ingredients, such as borax, formalin, mercury, and preservatives.

So, now you don't have to doubt the halalness of the COVID-19 vaccine, okay? The government also appeals to the public to always be wise in choosing information and not to be swayed by issues of the COVID-19 vaccine that have the potential to interfere with the vaccination program.

Providing the COVID-19 vaccine is a big step that can be a way to break the chain of transmission of the Corona virus. So, we need to support the smooth running of this program for the sake of all Indonesian people.

Another thing to remember, the existence of a vaccine should not relax our obedience in implementing he alth protocols. Even after getting the vaccine, you are still advised to wear a mask, maintain a safe distance, and wash your hands to reduce the risk of transmitting the Corona virus.

If you still have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine or other information related to this disease, you can ask your doctor directly.
