To treat respiratory tract infections, one way that is thought to be effective is to consume cordyceps mushrooms

Situated on the equator with its tropical climate, Indonesia provides an ideal environment for pathogenic and disease organisms to thrive and spread widely. One of them is a respiratory tract infection or ISP, which is an infection in the airways, sinuses, throat, or lungs. The main cause is a virus, but there are also bacteria that can cause respiratory infections in humans.

Respiratory tract infections can be divided into two, namely upper (nose, sinuses, throat) and lower (airways and lungs). In upper respiratory tract infections (ARI), the diseases that infect are:

  • Flu.
  • Colds.
  • Laryngitis, infection of the larynx (voice box).
  • Tonsillitis, infection of the tonsils and tissues at the back of the throat.
  • Sinusitis, infection of the sinuses.

While lower respiratory tract infections (ISPB) are also divided into several other types of infections, namely:

  • Asthma, persistent inflammation of the airways.
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the lungs are unable to exhale normally causing difficulty in breathing
  • Bronchitis, infection of the respiratory tract.
  • Bronchiolitis, an infection of the small airways that affects infants and children under two years of age.
  • Pneumonia, infection of the alveoli (air sacs) in the lungs.
  • Tuberculosis (TBC/TB), a persistent bacterial infection of the lungs.

Top ISPs tend to attack kids. This is because their immune system to fight various viruses that cause infection is not yet fully developed.

ISP can be transmitted from one person to another through the air (sneezing, coughing), and indirect touch through the intermediary of objects. It can also be caused by cigarette smoke, air pollution, chemicals, and dust. Did you know that mining is one of the fields of work where workers are vulnerable to ISPs? This may be because the place is poorly ventilated, closed, hot, and the air contains a lot of dust, smoke, gas, steam, or mist.

Respiratory or lung disease can also affect construction workers, farmers, welders, diggers, potters or ceramics, or those who struggle with stone, sand, clay, straw, or metal every day. Dust levels in the air that exceed standard levels, such as in industrial cities, are also correlated with breathing problems. The risk of developing lung or respiratory disease will also increase if you smoke.

Having a respiratory infection is not good. Coughing, sneezing, stuffy or runny nose, headache, sore throat, muscle pain, phlegm, shortness of breath, and chest tightness can be experienced if you have an ISP. If you don't want to be attacked by an ISP, you can reduce your risk of getting this infection by:

  • Wash your hands regularly.
  • Do not touch your mouth, eyes and nose with your hands.
  • No smoking.
  • Do exercise diligently.
  • Inject flu vaccine.

And fortunately, most respiratory infections can clear up on their own without the need for medication or a prescription from a doctor. Just take painkillers (paracetamol or over-the-counter ibuprofen), drink plenty of warm water, and get enough rest to relieve your ISP. You can also treat ISP by coughing to reduce phlegm in the lungs, gargling with a solution of warm water and s alt at least every hour, using nasal drops for nasal congestion, using a humidifier, or taking cordyceps.

Cordyceps is a fungus that lives on certain caterpillars in high mountain areas in China. Cordyceps is thought to boost immunity by stimulating certain cells and chemicals in the immune system. For this reason, cordyceps is believed to be able to treat various respiratory infections such as asthma, cough, and bronchitis.

By consuming cordyceps, it is believed that asthma symptoms in adults can be reduced. However, further research is still needed in this regard. In addition to treating respiratory tract infections, cordyceps is also believed to be able to reduce inflammation, protect the heart, slow the growth of tumors and kidney disease.

Starting from eating cordyceps mushrooms to just resting, respiratory infections can be cured easily.
